MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

Laboratory
tests by Dr. Molan at the University of Waikato, New Zealand,
have found Active Manuka Honey to be effective in killing Helicobacter
pylori, the bacteria believed to be responsible for duodenal and stomach ulcers.
Patients taking Active Manuka Honey in clinical trials all experienced
considerable relief from their symptoms. Dr
Peter Molan MBE, Associate Professor in Biochemistry at The University of
Waikato New Zealand, has since 1981 researched into the ancient healing
properties of honey. He has shown scientifically that most honeys have varying
degrees of healing properties due to a naturally occurring hydrogen peroxide
agent. He found that when honey comes into contact with body moisture the
glucose oxidase enzyme introduced to the honey by the bee, slowly releases the
antiseptic hydrogen peroxide. This is released at sufficient levels to be
effective against bacteria but not tissue damaging. More
recently Dr Molan and his research team found in some (but not all) manuka
honeys a second natural, anti-bacterial component. This non-peroxide or UMF™
component in Active Manuka Honey is effective against notoriously more resistant
bacteria such as super bug staphylococcus aureus and helicobacter pylori. It is
resistant to heat and more resistant to being broken down by the catalase effect
of body fluids than the hydrogen peroxide activity. The
special non-peroxide antibacterial, or UMF™, property is not found in all
manuka honey but in only a small percentage of manuka honeys. The presence of
this property can be detected only by laboratory testing. The
UMF™ level measures the non-peroxide antibacterial strength of Active Manuka
Honey. The higher the UMF™ rating, the greater the non-peroxide antibacterial
potency. To
be endorsed by the Honey Research Unit at the University of Waikato as having
special uses, Active Manuka Honey must have a UMF™ level of at least 10. SummerGlow
Active Manuka honey has the highest UMF™ rating there is to date. It has a
rating of UMF™ 19. In
laboratory tests the non-peroxide anti-bacterial property in Active Manuka Honey
with a UMF™ level of 10 or more inhibits the growth of helicobacter pylori.
Helicobacter pylori is the bacteria which causes most stomach ulcers. The
peroxide anti-bacterial activity of other honeys (including ordinary manuka
honey) is not effective against this bacteria. In
clinical trials patients taking Active Manuka Honey with a UMF™ rating of 10
or more all experienced considerable relief from their stomach ulcer symptoms.
However, this short preliminary trial could not determine if the honey
eliminated the bacteria. Anecdotal
testimonies from people who have used SummerGlow Active Manuka Honey for stomach
ulcers have been very positive. They had a generous spreading (about 1
tablespoon) of SummerGlow Active Manuka Honey on bread or toast one hour before
meals and again at bedtime. The bread was to ensure that the honey stayed in the
stomach for a longer period. Some adjusted the frequency to suit their needs. A
little discomfort was experienced by one or two for a short period. (staphylococcus
aureus or pseudomonas aeruginosa) Ulcers
that were not responding to conventional treatment cleared up when treated with
SummerGlow Active Manuka Honey. The honey was applied generously to the affected
area (about 1 tablespoon to a 5cm wound) and covered well. The dressing was
changed at least once a day. Cuts,
burns, wounds, acne, abscesses, eczema
(especially atopic eczema), cracked skin and eye infections The
research team have found Active Manuka Honey to be very effective for topical
use such as on burns, wounds, acne, eczema, and abscesses, the list keeps
growing. The UMF™ property of Active Manuka Honey is more stable than the
peroxide property of other honeys when exposed to the serum released by wounds.
Not only is Active Manuka Honey antibacterial, but it nourishes and promotes
tissue regrowth. Its osmotic effect draws a thin film of moisture to the surface
creating a barrier between wound and dressing allowing easy removal without
damaging regrowing tissue. The healing is more rapid and there is minimal
scarring. The
researchers are now considering the very real possibility of Active Manuka Honey
with a UMF™ level of 10 or more as a systemic healer. They are considering the
value of applying Active Manuka Honey to the wound externally, and eating Active
Manuka Honey to help the body fight the problem from the inside. Research
in its early stages has found that New Zealand honeys have useful levels of
antioxidants with Active Manuka Honey having the highest of all. Active Manuka
Honey stimulates the immune system helping the body deal with infections. When
the first feeling of a cold comes on try a teaspoon of SummerGlow Active Manuka
Honey from time to time throughout the day. Research
has shown that Active Manuka Honey also promotes the rehydration of the body
causing the earlier clearing of diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach upsets. The
anti-bacterial properties of Active Manuka Honey are effective in the laboratory
against MRSA(staphylococcus aureus) strains of bacteria which are notoriously
resistant to antibiotics and are sometimes responsible for the closing of
hospital wards. Current trials are now investigating the effectiveness of Active
Manuka Honey with a UMF™ rating of 10 or more on MRSA cases. For
duodenal and stomach ulcer relief: Try taking a generous spreading (about one
tablespoon) of SummerGlow Active Manuka Honey on a slice of bread one hour
before meals and with no fluids and again at bedtime. The bread is to ensure
that the honey stays in the stomach for a longer period. Frequency and amount
may be adjusted at your discretion. Research is being conducted to determine a
more accurate dosage. For
external use: Clean the wound. Then apply SummerGlow Active Manuka Honey
generously to the affected area (about 1 tablespoon to a 5cm wound). Cover.
Change at least once a day. For
sore throats and colds: When the first feeling of a cold comes on try taking a
teaspoon of SummerGlow Active Manuka Honey from time to time throughout the day.
Caution:
Do
not cease regular medication without doctor's consent. Diabetics
use discretion if taking honey orally. Stop
usage if you get a bad reaction. Active
Manuka Honey is natural honey with a unique natural antibacterial property. It
can be used for its special purposes or enjoyed for its distinctive flavour. Active
Manuka Honey has both the natural peroxide antibacterial property common to most
honeys plus its own natural non-peroxide (UMF™) antibacterial property, giving
it unique therapeutic uses. Only Active Manuka Honey has the special
non-peroxide (UMF™) activity factor that inhibits Helicobacter pylori and is
effective in relieving stomach ulcer symptoms. The
UMF™ rating measures the non-peroxide antibacterial strength of Active Manuka
Honey. The higher the rating, the more potent the honey’s antibacterial
activity against ulcers, wounds and infections. SummerGlow Active Manuka Honey
has the highest UMF™ level to date. UMF™19. To
